This nationally recognized conflict resolution and de-escalation certification course prepares law enforcement professionals to apply proven communication, behavioral recognition, and tactical response strategies in the field. L.E.A.D.S.™ Plus T – Law Enforcement Active De-Escalation Strategies Training was developed in 2007 and has been taught to agencies throughout the United States.
Delivered in a live virtual, instructor-led format, this course qualifies students in L.E.A.D.S.™ Plus T – Law Enforcement Active De-escalation Strategies and Tactical Options. Through lectures, demonstrations, and case studies, participants are trained in positive communication skills, effective de-escalation techniques, anger management strategies, force mitigation methods, and tactical responses for situations where de-escalation alone is inappropriate or ineffective. Students learn how to recognize aggressive behaviors early, prevent escalation, and apply practical strategies to avoid or resolve negative encounters while improving decision-making under stress.
The course is led by Lt. Kevin Dillon (Ret.), a 25-year law enforcement veteran retired from the Wethersfield, Connecticut Police Department, where he served as Detective Commander, Patrol Commander, and training supervisor. A longtime SWAT leader, FBI National Academy graduate, and nationally recognized instructor, Lt. Dillon developed both the L.O.C.K.U.P.® Arrest and Control System and the L.E.A.D.S.™ De-escalation Strategies program, which have been implemented widely in law enforcement training. He is recognized for his work in use of force, defensive tactics, de-escalation, and officer performance training.
